Hello and welcome to Ascent Medical Clinic,  I am Dr. Sholty and would like to introduce myself a little.  Started with my medical career in 1994 completing EMT basic training, after which the decision was made to continue to return to school and earn my paramedic license and subsequently providing 911 service to Southern California and Nevada.  My medical career also includes serving in the United States Navy as a corpsman attached to a USMC platoon and being a crew member on a rescue helicopter that responded to medical emergencies and trauma in Southern Nevada.  During my time as a flight paramedic and earning my RN degree and shifted my focus toward in hospital care in the Emergency Department.  I was then recruited out of the ED to a position of rounding nurse for an Intensivist and Hospitalist group serving multiple hospitals in Southern Nevada.  Through this opportunity, I acquired a vast knowledge of the inner-workings of the medical insurance industry and more importantly the navigation of the medical system as a whole. Fostering a continual desire to learn the important "Why we do the things we do in medicine," acceptance to medical school was followed by graduation in 2014 and completion of a Residency in Rural family Medicine and Board Certification in 2018.

 Continuing to utilize skills previously obtained has facilitated practice in vast areas which include the Emergency Department, Hospitalist, Urgent Care, and Stem Cell Therapy.  

I currently reside in Corpus Christi.  Enjoying anything that has to do with the outdoors and most importantly scuba diving, OW, AOW, Nitrox and CCR.  I am more than happy to provide completion of the Diver Medical and have contacts and relationships with dive centers in the cities in which Ascent operates along with providing medical dive service through www.divewithadoc.com
